Frequently Asked Questions
Clear information for students, families, and counselors regarding the ACHIEVE transition experience.
scheduleWhat does a typical day look like for an Achieve student?
Students arrive at our classroom at 9:00 AM. The day starts with social time among peers followed by curriculum exploration experiences. Movement opportunities are incorporated. Lunch on campus provides a rich opportunity for peer mentorship and social interaction with traditional Evangel students. Lunch is provided on campus during scheduled Achieve attendance days. In the afternoon, students learn about diverse jobs on rotating campus sites assisted by job coaches. Dismissal is at 3:00 PM.
psychologyHow do I know if this program is right for me?
If you are serious about gaining direction for your life and would benefit from an intensive transition program that pairs specific classroom instruction with genuine social and vocational inclusion among same-age peers, we warmly encourage you to apply. Achieve is a one- or two-year program.
workWill my child get a job after this program?
ACHIEVE does not guarantee job placement upon completion; however, students gain real-life job skills while working on- and off-campus jobs (food services, facilities, athletics, office operations). These experiences focus on work readiness skills as well as task mastery. Paired with our person-centered approach, students gain the tools and references necessary to transition into a preferred job upon completion.
directions_busDoes Achieve provide transportation?
No, ACHIEVE is unable to provide transportation for students. Students are expected to arrive on campus ready for class by 9:00 AM and have arrangements to be picked up at 3:00 PM. Our curriculum includes transportation planning to help students learn local transit options. Students may arrive before 9 AM and stay after 3 PM at their own discretion.
paymentsCan students apply for student loans or scholarships to attend Achieve?
ACHIEVE is a specialized transition program; therefore, students do not qualify for traditional federal college loans or Pell grants. Students and families are strongly encouraged to apply for local scholarship funds through their high schools, community foundations, or private sponsors.
